A Deep Dive Into Konami Shooters

I purchased this book for deeper knowledge about the tangled mess that is the Gradius and Lifeforce home video game ports, and learned far more about Konami shooters than I ever expected. The Unofficial Guide to Konami Shooters packs history and gameplay descriptions into a very solid book that boasts tons of screenshots. My only gripe? I caught approximately 3-4 typos that probably would've been caught with one more proofread.

Couldn't wait to have my sports-crazed middle schooler read this - and it did not disappoint!

As the father of three young boys - including a sports-crazed 11-year-old - I was excited to get this book, and even more excited to learn that it's the first in what will be a series! Great writing, great lessons, brilliant illustrations - it's the PERFECT way to get a spots-crazed middle schooler into reading if he or she isn't already. Jensen has had a long career as a sportswriter and I've read his stuff for years, and I was especially impressed with how well he tells Urlacher's story in a way that will appeal to sports fans of all ages using this illustrated book format. Really, really well done!

A Work of Monumental Proportions, Worthy of any Tarotist's Book Shelf.
I was browsing in the favorite sections of a particular bookstore when, almost immediately, her book caught the corner of my eye, even though it was on a lower shelf. Despite that I was looking at some different material, I knew in my heart that I could not in no way lose her book, that I had to return to it.

After perusing Benebell Wen's book, Holistic Tarot, I knew that I had to get it. Upon taking it home, it's pages unfolded with precious and copious amounts of wisdom and practical knowledge on every page. There is so much detail on the art of Tarot that anyone, no matter their level of skill, or lack thereof, can feel comfortable with this book, and know that there is something- a lot of somethings- available for them throughout this great and monumental work.

Benebell's writing style is lucid, poetic, philosophical, intuitive and concise in it's treatment of the subjects approached. Her delivery is sensitive, thoughtful and highly instructive.

I have adored this series since its inception but Born of Fury didn't meet my expectations
Sigh. Did I read the same book other people giving it 5 stars, I LURV It! reviews did?

I have adored this series since its inception and will stand behind my belief that Darling's story was one of the best I've read because of the amazing characterization as well as plot. But, Born of Fury didn't meet my expectations.

It wasn't *bad* by any means, but where was the plot? I realize the whole rising and falling line, 'classic' plot can become rote with readers going "okay, so this is where this is going to happen" and then "Yep, that is where that happened" to the point where stories that follow that line feel stale sometimes, but I would rather have had that slightly stale trope than have a story with the barest whisper of a plot, which is what Born of Fury delivered.

I did enjoy the characters but there was barely any tension at all to drive me to want to read faster and more (which, for me, is the mark of a good story). Instead the plot was cursory,...
